Two days of supplies, personal effects, weapons and munitions... The weight and contents of the soldier's "kit" have remained surprisingly unchanged for 2,000 years. Whether he is a Roman legionnaire or a fighter from Afghanistan, he needs to eat, wash, sleep, protect himself from bad weather, distinguish himself from his adversaries, but also while away the time before combat, overcome his apprehensions, keep in touch with his relatives... Over the centuries and in the most diverse civilisations, many solutions have been designed to meet these needs, sometimes unusual or doomed to failure, but sometimes so creative and clever that they have been adapted for use by the general public: did you know that folding furniture, reversible clothes, long-life food and the internet were originally designed for the military?

For the first time, an exhibition will focus on everyday objects and the life of a soldier before and after combat, from Antiquity to the present day. Around 300 exhibits, a large chronological gallery, contemporary photographs, a dressing up area... Come and see life through the eyes of a soldier!
